About us

Brief

Conceived and founded by Mr. David Geoffrey Opiokello and Mrs. Rachel Isweka Opiokello in the late nineties. The school was licensed and registered as a Fully Mixed, “O” and “A” Level, Science and Arts Boarding Secondary School in 2003 and 2004 respectively. The school is 6Km from Lira City centre.

We are passionate about providing the best education even to those who cannot afford it. Our fees is affordable and we also have a bursary scheme to support able and willing children who cannot afford school fees. Please note that bursary is currently for S.1 and S.5 students who were candidates in the last P.L.E and U.C.E exams. All other new entrants may join the bursary programme when they are enrolled as students in those classes.

Most frequently questions and answers
Dara uses the School Pay method of fees payment. On admission, all new entrants are issued a School Pay Code for paying fees. There are two options of using this: 1. Using mobile money by dialing *165*4*3*2*1# yes and following the prompts. 2. Going to any of the Housing Finance Bank outlets with the School Pay code and making your payment.
Yes, both administrators and other staff reside at the school. The school is able to accommodate up to 18 staff members. The rest of the staff either reside near the school or effectively commute from their homes near town.
Ordinarily we expect all fees to paid before the child can report to school. However, a fees payment plan can be arranged with the Headteacher if there are challenges with fees payment.
Yes, Dara has a wide range of learners and staff members from almost all parts of the country including Central, Western, Northern, Eastern, Southern, and West Nile Uganda. There are also communities from South Sudan, Kenya and The DRC.
Yes, the school has a well stocked Science and Computer laboratory and offers these subjects at both levels. Computer at “O” level has a very practical approach going beyond the currriculum.
A public phone is available for students to call free of charge. The calls are however, limited and monitored by administrators to avoid abuse of the phone.
The school has a backup generator, powerful enough to serve both the school and resident staff apartments. The school will soon install a solar – power facility that is more eco-friendly.
The school distributes a pair of masks to all its learners every term and has hand washing facilities strategically located around the school. The learners’ temperatures are taken daily with a temperature gun and monitored. Social distances is emphasised and there are regular sessions on sensitising learners about COVID-19. There is an isolation room where learners who indicate symptoms of COVID-19 are monitored. If their symptoms persist, the District COVID-19 task force is contacted and the learners is handed over to them after calling and notifying the parents. The school COVID-19 task force then follows up with the parent or guardian on the progress of the child
